Hello gorgeous!

It’s spring time. The sun is shining, plants and flowers are lovin’ it, and everyone seems to have a pep in their step. But if you are anything like me, every spring, I find myself lethargic from the rush of the holiday months that some how kept me busy well into the season. Over worked, stressed, and over indulged; I crave to refresh my body and my surroundings, dreaming of the next time I can take a little break from it all.

I did some research and put together an easy to make body scrub with Himalayan salt crystals and grapefruit. Combining the two works amazing as a detox enhancement, while adding a fresh, hydrating glow to your skin as well. I use it in my shower to create a bit of a tropical escape and never really leave home.

Himalayan salt crystals are packed with minerals beneficial to your body. In fact, they contain more than 80 different minerals and elements that formed naturally in the earth. You, yourself are made of trillions and trillions of little compound elements that form together to make you, and no one else like you. The stresses of our everyday life make it easy for us to release good minerals from our body and absorb toxins that leave us sluggish by the middle of the day.

Grapefruit, full of vitamin C, stimulates the production of skin collagen. Like most citrus fruits, it refreshes the skin, and the amino acid present protects against UV Rays, and reduces the appearance of age spots. The anti-oxidant in grapefruit also protects the skin against environmental hazards.

Adding just half a cup of HPS to your bath allows your body to replenish essential minerals such as sodium (Na+), potassium (K+), calcium (Ca2+), magnesium (Mg2+), and chloride (Cl−) through the process of dermal absorption. This is amazing because magnesium alone helps soothe, sore muscles, and replenishes hydration to get you back on your feet.

Here are some benefits of Himalayan Pink Salt for your body:

  • Detoxification
  • Relieves Sore Muscles
  • Air Purification
  • Hydration Regulation
  • Sinus Irrigation
  • pH Balance
  • Prevents Acid Reflux
  • Lowers Blood Pressure
  • Improves Digestions
  • Strengthens Bones/Body

Ingredients:

1.5 Cup Fine Himalayan Salt

1 Grapefruit

1  Tbl Spoon Dried Mint

5 Drops Lavendar Essential Oil

Directions:

In a medium bowl, add salt and dried mint and stir. Grate grapefruit in a seperate bowl or plate and gather zest from the fruit. Add the zest to the mix then slice open the fruit and squeeze all the juice into the salt mix. Add 5 drops of lavendar essential oil (for night time mix). If you prefer a pick me up, use lemon essential oil. Mix together into a pretty jar and leave it in your shower or sink! If you are looking to get more moisture, add 1 to 2 table spoons of coconut oil. Scrub it generaously all over your body in the shower and then rinse off. Wash off any residue with shower gel or soap. Make sure to moisturize!

You can also add half a cup to your bath. Soak for 20 minutes then rinse off.

Tip* If  you have really dry skin, I suggest using it on damp skin. It exfoliates dead skin cells, making way for a new glowing layer of skin!

Have an amazing spring! Look forward to hearing  your thoughts.
